Food For Daily Wage Workers
Poverty and starvation go hand in hand, as a society it is our moral responsibility to provide basic means of survival, like food to the part of our society that cannot afford it. While the lockdown hit every part of our society, those of us with food, shelter and resources were protected from the bearing the brunt.
Alai Foundation under this initiative created a platform for people to directly donate to the cause of feeding the famished.
We served approximately 2500 people every day till the lockdown restrictions were eased and the daily wage workers could go back to earning their bread.
We had resources stocked up to serve more than 50,000 people, with meals which included Dal Khichdi, Bisi Bele Bath & Curd Rice at 25/- rupees per meal.
We used every rupee contributed to us, to make sure we did not let our workers sleep on an empty stomach, this helped ease the situation for many daily wage workers in AP and TS.
While our workers had the satisfaction of food, our generous contributors had the satisfaction of a being morally responsible.
We thank the “Don’t Waste Food team” and “Telangana State Police” for their support during our successful campaign.
